Hydroponic & Controlled Environment Farming Setup

Hydroponics has moved from hobby rooftops to commercial units around Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi NCR, driven by exotic salad demand, water scarcity and land cost. Srivena sets up soil-less production systems sized to the buyer, from a 1,000 sqft pilot to multi-acre coco-grow-bag houses, and stays on for the agronomy.

Scope of work

  • Hydroponics, aquaponics, aeroponics and vertical farming systems
  • Climate control, lighting, sensors and automation
  • Nutrient-management and fertigation design
  • Commissioning, operation, training and support

Systems we install

System choice follows the crop and the market, not the other way round.

  • NFT channel systems for lettuce, basil, pak choi and leafy exotics
  • Deep water culture (DWC) rafts for high-density leafy production
  • Coco peat grow bag and slab systems for tomato, capsicum and cucumber
  • A-frame and vertical racks where floor area is the constraint
  • Dosing and pH/EC control, recirculation, filtration and UV treatment
  • Fogging, exhaust, shade and cooling for Indian summer conditions

What the investment covers

A commercial hydroponic budget is roughly split between the protective structure, the growing system, the water and nutrient line, and climate control. Running cost is dominated by power, nutrients, planting material and labour. Yield and payback depend on crop selection, market access and how consistently the crop is managed, so we insist on a written crop and sales plan before quoting a system.

Training and handover

Every installation includes operator training on nutrient mixing, EC and pH control, sanitation, pest scouting and record keeping, along with a season of remote agronomy support.

Frequently asked questions

What is the setup cost of hydroponic farming in India?
It depends on the structure, system type, level of automation and location. A simple NFT unit under a shade net house and a fully climate-controlled grow-bag greenhouse differ several times over on the same area. We quote against a drawing and a crop plan; anyone quoting a flat per-square-foot number without asking about your crop and climate is guessing.
Which crops are grown hydroponically in India?
Lettuce and salad leaves, basil and herbs, pak choi, kale, cherry tomato, coloured capsicum, cucumber and strawberry are the commercially proven ones. Staple cereals are not economic under hydroponics in India.
How much water does hydroponics save?
Recirculating systems reuse the nutrient solution, so consumption is far lower than open field irrigation for the same crop. The exact saving depends on crop, system and evaporation losses at your site.
Is hydroponic farming profitable in India?
It can be, where there is a reliable buyer for exotic or premium produce at a premium price. Profitability is decided by market access and running discipline more than by the equipment. We will tell you if we think your market cannot absorb the output.
Do I need a greenhouse for hydroponics?
In most of India yes, at least a shade net or insect-proof cover. Open hydroponics fails quickly under summer heat, monsoon rain and pest pressure.
